Power output varies according to which engine you select. Depending on the trim model, there are five available engine options:
- 3.3L V6 (290 horsepower, 265 lb-ft of torque)
- Turbocharged 2.7L V6 (325 hp, 400 lb-ft)
- 5.0L V8 (400 hp, 410 lb-ft)
- Turbo 3.5L V6 (400 hp, 500 lb-ft) (or 450 hp, 510 lb-ft in Raptor models)
- Hybrid PowerBoost engine (430 hp, 570 lb-ft)
Most F-150 models are very flexible in terms of which engine you can select. However, the off-road-ready Raptor comes with a high-output version of the F-150’s strongest engine, the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine.
To tow max loads, get yourself the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. To make the most of your F-150’s hauling capabilities, it’s the 5.0-liter V8 engine you need. No matter which engine you prefer, every F-150 includes a 10-speed automatic transmission. Tow mode lets you lock out the higher gears to improve torque when you’re moving a big trailer.
