Is Ford changing the F-150 for 2022?

Ford F150 on the Road

There are a few changes for the 2022 model year. For starters, the STX Black Appearance package is more widely available, letting you upgrade your ride with exclusive design features, including 20-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, an Ebony Black grille, and blackout headlamp surround. And shoppers can also select a new exterior color, Atlas Blue.

Why choose the 2022 Ford F-150?

Ford F150 Towing

The F-150 has been America’s best selling vehicle for 45 years, and with good reason. Capabilities vary from model to model, but this light-duty truck has never been more capable than it is now, towing up to 14,000 pounds and hauling up to 3,325 pounds. If you need to move heavy equipment, there’s no better option than the F-150.

These trucks are also known for their many configurations, with three bed sizes and three cabin sizes from which to choose. There are also six F-150 trim models, which means you can make your truck as luxurious as you wish. And the F-150 Raptor appeals to enthusiasts with its made-for-the-desert racing capabilities.

How powerful is the 2022 Ford F-150?

Power output varies according to which engine you select. Depending on the trim model, there are five available engine options:

  • 3.3L V6 (290 horsepower, 265 lb-ft of torque)
  • Turbocharged 2.7L V6 (325 hp, 400 lb-ft)
  • 5.0L V8 (400 hp, 410 lb-ft)
  • Turbo 3.5L V6 (400 hp, 500 lb-ft) (or 450 hp, 510 lb-ft in Raptor models)
  • Hybrid PowerBoost engine (430 hp, 570 lb-ft)

Most F-150 models are very flexible in terms of which engine you can select. However, the off-road-ready Raptor comes with a high-output version of the F-150’s strongest engine, the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine.

To tow max loads, get yourself the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. To make the most of your F-150’s hauling capabilities, it’s the 5.0-liter V8 engine you need. No matter which engine you prefer, every F-150 includes a 10-speed automatic transmission. Tow mode lets you lock out the higher gears to improve torque when you’re moving a big trailer.
