What’s new for the 2023 Ford Escape?
Although Ford hasn’t officially debuted its new Escape, we’re expecting big things. This small crossover is due for a mid-cycle refresh, and updates will likely include new styling, inside and out. Ford is also likely to add its latest infotainment system, SYNC 4, to the Escape, which brings a bigger touchscreen and the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Knowing which Escape is right for you really comes down to knowing what you want from your crossover SUV. This year, in addition to the usual trim models — the base S, mid-grade SE, stylish SEL, and posh Titanium — it looks like Ford is adding an ST Line to the Escape lineup. How much power will the 2023 Ford Escape have?
In spite of its mid-cycle refresh, it’s likely that the upcoming Escape will feature the same engine options that provide the smooth, comfortable ride we’ve come to know and love.
The base Escape powertrain includes:
- Standard 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder engine (181 horsepower, 190 lb-ft of torque)
- Eight-speed automatic transmission
- Front-wheel drive
- Optional all-wheel drive
Depending on the trim model, shoppers can also choose between two optional engines, which offer both more power and the potential for improved fuel economy.
- 2.5L hybrid powertrain (200 total hp) + continuously variable transmission
- 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine (250 hp, 280 lb-ft) + eight-speed automatic
When will I be able to order the 2023 Ford Escape?
You can order the new Escape very soon, reportedly beginning this September 19. Production will start shortly afterward, in November.
