What’s new for the 2024 Ford Transit?
Ford has yet to roll out the U.S. version of its popular full-size work van, but we can glean a lot of information from the European version, announced just last month. For starters, the redesigned Transit features a new body style and eight-speed transmission, both of which are designed to help move more weight, improve handling, and enhance performance overall.
The 2024 Transit will also offer more tech features, including Ford’s latest infotainment system, SYNC 4. It includes a 12-inch touchscreen and the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. A new 8-inch digital gauge cluster can be configured to display the data you want to see. And these vans also include the new 5G modem and wireless updates, so there’s no need to return to the dealership to download the latest software.
Two new tech systems will also be available. The Upfit Integration System gives you access to aftermarket technology via the Transit’s central touchscreen. And the Delivery Assist system helps drivers shave seconds off every delivery by automating repetitive tasks!
How powerful is the 2024 Ford Transit?
We’ll know the answer to this question very soon! For now, all we know is that the Transit sports a new eight-speed transmission specially designed to enhance performance and boost payload capabilities.
Last year’s engines were both work-friendly, and we expect the upcoming Transit to be just as powerful. The 2023 Transit offered two engine options:
- 3.5L V6 (275 horsepower, 262 lb-ft of torque)
- Optional turbo 3.5L V6 (310 hp, 400 lb-ft)
How can I configure my 2024 Ford Transit?
Great question! While we assume these commercial vans will be as configurable as last year’s model (with three roof options, two wheelbase options, and an extra-length body style available with the extended wheelbase), we’re still waiting for a spec sheet from Ford. As soon as we know more, we’ll update this space with the appropriate info!
We also expect this new Transit to be available as a passenger or cargo van, giving a wide range of businesses the transportation options they require.
Last year’s Passenger Van could seat up to 15 passengers, with a variety of seating arrangements available to expand cargo space as needed. This Transit Passenger Van is available as two trim models, the base XL and upgraded XLT.
Meanwhile, the current Transit Cargo Van is available as one trim model with various weight ratings (150, 250, and 350). In addition to wide opening rear doors, this van helps you access your cargo with a curb-friendly sliding passenger-side door.
Every Cargo Van also comes with the Co-Pilot360 package. You can add quite a few options to these vans, too, including the SYNC infotainment system, running boards, and blind-spot warning.
When can I order the 2024 Ford Transit?
You should be able to order your redesigned Ford Transit later this month, August 2023! If all goes according to schedule, your model will go into production in early 2024 and be ready for delivery next summer.
