2023 Ford Ranger
The wait for the 2023 Ford Ranger is over! Let’s take a closer look at everything that the latest version of this midsize truck can dish out.
What’s new for the 2023 Ford Ranger?
For a while there, it looked like Ford was going to release the next-gen Ranger for the 2023 model year. Unfortunately, though, it now looks like we’ll have to wait at least another model year for the updated truck. This also likely means that we’ll also have to wait a while for the next-gen Ranger Raptor, which will take this midsize truck’s off-roading performance to powerful new heights. Instead of a redesigned model, the 2023 Ranger is a carryover of the previous model year.
Will the 2023 Ford Ranger get a V6?
No, not this year, anyway. The 2023 Ranger will employ the line’s tried-and-true turbocharged four-cylinder engine. As usual, it kicks up dust with 270 horsepower and optional four-wheel drive. Properly equipped, these trucks will tow max loads of 7,500 pounds, a very attractive figure for the midsize truck segment. And this new Ranger will once again haul best-in-class payloads of up to 1,905 pounds.
This new Ranger features familiar powertrain specs:
- 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine (270 horsepower, 310 lb-ft of torque)
- 10-speed automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
- Optional four-wheel drive
