2023 Ford Ranger Preview
The newly redesigned 2023 Ford Ranger is nearly here! Let’s take a look at everything this all-American midsize truck can bring to your daily drive.
What’s new for the 2023 Ford Ranger?
The midsize Ranger has been completely redesigned! While Ford has yet to officially debut its new midsize truck, we can tell you that there’s a lot to love about this new model. The exterior has been remodeled for an increasingly rugged feel. In fact, it looks more like the famous F-150 than the previous Ranger. The new frame is wider and longer, which means more space for you and your cargo haul. Inside, this redesigned truck also gets a makeover, with a new, vertically aligned infotainment touchscreen and snugly bolstered front seats.
What will power the 2023 Ford Ranger?
The same turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine from the previous generation returns for 2023. While Ford hasn’t announced output for the upcoming model year, it likely won’t be that different from last year, when it produced 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
The current Ranger can tow up to 7,500 pounds, and we expect the new truck to match or exceed that figure. And the 2023 Ranger will also be available with four-wheel drive, so you can transform your model into a fun-loving off-roader.
On the other hand, the off-road-ready Ford Ranger Raptor will pack a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 under its hood. This midsize desert racer packs a big punch, with 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. And the Raptor comes standard with a long list of off-road upgrades, such as 33-inch all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance, and locking front and rear differentials.
Ford hasn’t announced any additional powertrains for the new Ranger, but we’re still crossing our fingers that a hybrid engine option will make it to the list. We do know that the automaker plans to release a hybrid or EV powertrain for the Ranger eventually, if not for the 2023 model year.
How are the 2023 Ford Ranger comfort and tech features?
As you may have guessed, the redesigned Ranger is set to offer all of Ford’s latest creature comforts and street-smart tech gear. For instance, the SYNC 4 system is on offer, with its upgraded infotainment system and the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And available upgrades, like a B&O premium sound system or wireless smartphone charging pad, are also available.
Just like in previous model years, this newly redesigned Ranger will offer a variety of trim levels with varying amounts of interior luxury. Expect to see plenty of cushy options, from heated seats to leather upholstery.
