For 2026, the Expedition comes with some much-needed off-road upgrades, but will this be the reason that you get one? That’s what we want to figure out. We’ll be taking an early look at what you can expect from this model, so you know before the rest of the market if this is the best vehicle for 2026.
Key Takeaways:
- The upcoming Tremor trim stands out and makes it more than worth the wait.
- This SUV is powerful and efficient, making it a solid option for many types of drivers.
- With the 2025 models being a full refresh, the 2026 model builds on that, making it the best it can be.
What are the changes in the 2026 Ford Expedition?
For 2026, the Expedition comes with a new Tremor trim.
In recent years, the Expedition came with a “Timberline” trim, but that was dropped. Ford realized that many of their drivers wanted something that could tackle the trails, so they brought over the Tremor trim that is available on other models. If you opt for a Tremor model, then you’ll be treated to 33-inch tires, off-roading tech such as Ford’s Trail Turn Assist feature and low-speed cruise control, and the high-output version of the twin-turbo V6.
Other than that, there are no new features for the Expedition, as last year it saw some large changes. As a refresher, a new split liftgate, upgraded interior tech suite, and a new exterior styling were brought to the line, making it look and feel better than before.
How much is the 2026 Ford Expedition?
The Expedition will start around $65,000.
When looking at the Expedition, there are no official numbers as of yet, but Car and Driver is confident that the price of the Expedition will start around $65,000 for the Active trim. Moving up a step, there’s the Platinum trim starting at $76,545, then the Tremor that has a starting price of $83,995. If you want the best of the best, then you can look for the King Ranch trim, starting at $86,655.
For this model, Car and Driver thinks that the Active gives you the most bang for your buck. This is because it comes with a 24-inch screen, onboard wi-fi, and a power-adjustable center console. But if you want just a bit more, then they think that the Tremor is the better of the two. This is for the reasons that we covered in the section above, stating that “Tremor is worth the upgrade, especially if you plan to take the Expedition off the beaten path.”
How Much Horsepower Does a 2026 Ford Expedition Have?
At its best, the Expedition can generate 440 horsepower.
Much like other areas of the Expedition, the Tremor only makes it better, and while it does use the same engine as the other trims, it is tuned differently, able to generate 440 horsepower, instead of the 400 on all other trims.
Being that the new high-output engine hasn’t been tested by the EPA just yet, we don’t know its fuel economy, but we do know what it is for the base engine, as it is the same as before. This engine can get you 19 MPG combined, making it a decent option for those soccer moms who want something big and won’t burn gas at an alarming rate.
Another area this SUV shines is the towing capacity. While this isn’t a truck, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t capable. If you want something practical enough for families, but want something that can haul, then the Expedition's 9,600-pound tow rating will be a great option.
Should I wait for the 2026 Expedition Tremor?
Here at Karl Flammer Ford, we do think that the Tremor is more than worth the wait. This is because it makes the Expedition fun to drive, being that you can take it off-road, and it comes with more power. If you’re sold on the Tremor, you’ll have to wait just a bit longer until the 2026 models hit the lot. If you don’t want to wait for a 2026 model, we can still help.
