Can’t wait for the 2023 Ford Ranger? Neither can we. While we’re waiting for Ford’s newly redesigned midsize truck, let’s take a look at what we can expect.
The long-awaited redesigned Ranger — specially designed for American drivers — is almost here! We expect new styling inside and out, as well as a completely remodeled interior. The Ranger’s new aesthetic looks increasingly rugged, too, with a chiseled front end that will remind you more of the bigger F-150. This new Ranger also gets some serious tech upgrades and new transmission options.
We expect the same 2.3-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine (270 horsepower, 310 lb-ft of torque) will carry over to these new trucks. International versions of the new Ranger will offer diesel engine options as well, but we don’t expect to see those in the States.
We think that Ford may upgrade the Ranger’s transmission, however, replacing the old six-speed automatic with an increasingly thrifty 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Ranger’s new cabin is a big focus of the head-to-toe redesign. Although Ford hasn’t released the details, we expect a more modern interior design. Seating will likely be as roomy and supportive as ever, even if Ford has yet to drop measurements or even reveal a photo of the backseats.
As with previous models, we expect the new Ranger to be available with either an extended or crew cabin. We’re also betting that Ford will pair the extended cab with a 6-foot bed and the crew cab with a 5-foot bed.
Inside, you’ll recognize the Ranger’s new vertical infotainment touchscreen from Mustang Mach-E cabins. The upcoming truck will also feature Ford’s latest infotainment system, SYNC 4, which improves your experience with quicker processing and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The 2023 Ranger will likely do away with many physical buttons, giving you access to performance features, like off-road driving modes, via the central touchscreen.
The redesigned Ranger is set to hit international markets this year. However, Ford hasn’t announced a North American release date just yet. Just like the Ford Bronco, we expect this new Ranger will roll off the line at the Michigan Assembly Plant. As we learn more about Ford’s redesigned midsize truck, we’ll keep you posted!
